As a boy from Krakow, when I first hopped on a bike, I had no idea where it would take me. All I had back then was a big heart and dreams that burned hotter than the asphalt on a mid-summer day.
Krakow is where it all began. My journey took me from those first few pedal strokes and local wins to the biggest stages in the world: the Tour de France, the Vuelta a España, and the Giro d’Italia.
But my story isn’t just a highlight reel of successes. it’s a lesson in humility, sweat, and perseverance. During my time with amateur teams in Italy, I didn’t just learn the tactics of the pro game, I learned the value of friendship. It was there I realized that cycling is about more than just the results; it’s about the people, the team, and the trust you build together.
Then came the professional years, a whirlwind of Italian and Spanish teams and the very races I once studied in newspapers and textbooks. It was a career defined by the relentless battle against time, oneself, teammates, and the legends of the sport. From the grit of Grand Tour stages to the pride of Polish Championship titles, these are the milestones a rider carries forever.
Today, I realize that the true heart of cycling extends far beyond the World Tour. It lives in small towns, among families, and in the eyes of amateurs who possess that same spark I felt as a boy. This realization led to the birth of WYŚCIG by Tomasz Marczyński nine years ago, an event created as a tribute to everyone who loves the ride. It is for the novice, the returning veteran, and those seeking the unique camaraderie and thrill of the sport.
This is more than a race; it is a celebration of enduring passion. It’s a proving ground where adults confront their limits and a sanctuary where children can cultivate even bigger dreams. We have built a platform where every participant discovers that cycling is synonymous with freedom, strength, and friendship.
